Finding the right hat for you

Everybody wears hats... they identify who we are in society, our place in our family, and workplace. They can also be a symbol for our gifts, talents and callings. I believe that it is important to identify what our hats are and when to wear them.

As a child you wear the hats that your parents have given you - whether it is being a son or daughter, or a student at school. But at some stage, we grow out of the hats that our folks have given us, and it's time to look at other hats which are designed for us - by ourselves; by others; and by God. You don't want to go around all your life wearing a baby bonnet do you?

In order for us to gain understanding on this subject, here are some questions to think about.

  1. Is there such a thing as "The One Right Hat" for you?
  2. How do you find "The Right Hat"?
  3. Should you listen to what other people say about your hat?
  4. If you've got a hat, SHOULD you wear it?
  5. Can we have more than one hat?
  6. If someone else had the same hat as you, would you cope with it?

Don't compromise your hats based on other people's opinions, don't settle for a hat you're not completely happy with. Wear your hat, your way. And remember - just because God's given you a hat to wear in this season, doesn't mean that he hasn't got something different for you later on...
